Virginia: It’s not for Lovers Anymore.
Really, Virginia? Really? First we get humiliated all over the country by proposing a bill that would require all women wanting an abortion for any reason to have a trans-vaginal ultrasound. THEN the day the bill is due for a vote the Gov. declares it must be transabdominal instead. As we are getting closer to that bill’s passage, people question why the Gov. waited so long, and he admitted he hadn’t actually read the bill. But, after the vote – if it went well, he would look into it. Because that’s how we handle bills. Read the ones that make the most noise once we sign them.
And just when I think I can’t be any more embarrassed by the State Senate – Along comes Delegate David Arbo to tell then entire House of Delgates how he tried to seduce his wife in bed (using such ploys as red wine, mood music, and the Washington Redskins channel) but they ran across a channel showing the abortion debate and the wife refused to have sex with him. Now remember – this isn’t some bawdy tail for “down at the pub” or locker room talk — this speech was given on the HOUSE FLOOR!!!
The bill failed and a now a lesser bill is up. Looks like we can’t just push people around as easily was we thought. Still with our Republican majority cramming every divisive social issue down out throats, we will soon be in the dark ages before we can say – “Virginia is for Lovers”.

I agree with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes who said of Albo: “If you can’t bring yourself to SAY ‘vaginal’ you’re not allowed to LEGISLATE about it.”
Ha ha ha, thanks so much for sharing that! I had not heard it before and now I think we out to turn it into a billboard and post it in Richmond!!
Oh that’s a good one!
It’s always interesting to see those criticizing values pushing values.
It’s almost like our culture suffers from a great disconnect — we assume everything for everyone else, but nothing for ourselves. I know of an ice cream shop in Williamsburg that had a no parking sign at one part of the lot and they had to put under it a sign that said, “YES! This means YOU!”
Wow. TMI for the State House Delegate Floor.
No kidding…. as if Virginia hasn’t had enough shame – now we have to hear about his failed woo attempts. (personally, I think he lost that game when he turned the TV on in the middle of his attempt. Who does that?)
