The Hunger (for attention) Games
While scanning the news this afternoon I noticed a disturbing trend:
- Huckabee says Perry doesn’t have a prayer and he encouraged Thompson to stay til SC
- McCain says Huckabee is a liar. He also says Sarah Palin was his best decision ever.
- Palin says Romney’s not being open enough.
- Clinton thinks Gingrich is smart.
- Gingrich thinks Palin is dumb. (I made that one up – but it’s a good bet…)
All over media the election commentary is being given by the losers, the drop-outs, and the “never had a chance” people who are no longer in any bid. Another sign we are lost to “Star culture” and most are not really sure or interested in the real future of our nation. I want to hear from economists, theorists, legal experts and diplomatic researchers about the candidates – not the people who weren’t even good enough to beat them, or peaked 15 years ago. One thing is for sure: like professional sports, the money doesn’t come from winning or losing – it’s the endorsements that count.

Palin who? I haven’t seen her around so much, but then again I don’t go looking for her.
Open enough. Hmm. How open is open? Having a reality show? Bus tour? Embarrassing yourself when interviewed by Couric?
Palin has been somewhat more tolerable now that she has abandoned serious politics for what she really wants to be — a celebrity. But seeing her as a political analyst gets me every time. The last article she was saying Mitt should show everyone his tax return (like she did) and be more accessible to people (like she was). It always reads as “I want you to lose exactly like I did.”
Belle’s tone says a lot about this post. I too prefer the specialist commentators … hence why i get most of my info when listening to POTUS (XM) while in the car … and right on with your “Star Culture” point.
Yep — Belle will always be a staunch member of the GOP – but this election she’s running out of steam. So many choices – so few offering real choice. But she may perk up — I think I’ll get her a sweater vest for valentine’s day.
