Hey Brother, Can You Spare Some Blame…

Here in the great state of Virginia – we just have to laugh.  A man who has lived here 16 years and played an active role in politics the entire time decided our system is “flawed” because HE didn’t do the work to get in.  That’s like saying the metro station is corrupt for not letting you on the train when you didn’t buy a ticket!  Something tells me if Newt got in, and Ron Paul didn’t — he’d think our system was working juuuust fine.

The truth is – Virginia has a geography problem – Southern VA is rock em’, sock em’ Tea Party country – republican, rural and righteous. Northern Virginia (NOVA) is highly educated, well off, and tends to lean a little more to the left. Central and Eastern are largely independent with a lean to the right you can’t always count on.  (Which is why Virginia – a notable red state turned Blue for Obama).  So – we do have a complex balloting idea. 400 valid signatures in EACH congressional district, and 10,000 overall. That way every part of the state has fair representation.  That does require more work – so maybe, just maybe, you should start before the weekend that its due!

Of course, the bigger issue at hand is – nothing – NEVER – is Newt’s fault.  His original campaign staff bailed? Well THEY were inexperienced.  He cheated on 2 wives and divorced them. Well, the religions he was in weren’t strong enough – (which is scary when one of them was Southern Baptist) – now that he’s Catholic – things are better.  He actually endorsed the Clinton health care mandate and wrote in favor of the Romney plan — well — the OTHERS in politics forced his hand in those compromising situations.  He was charged with 84 ethics violations while Speaker of the House and paid a $300,000 dollar fine (One of the largest ever given an incumbent) – well the Rules weren’t written in a way that allowed him to tell the truth to the IRS and investigative committee – -he was just trapped in the system – and well…ah hum…yes -he lied to congress…BUT….

At some point – if we are looking for a leader who can handle the responsibility of our country – shouldn’t we choose someone willing and able to be responsible for himself?

  1. Hey Ho, the Gingrich is dead, which ol’ rich? The Gingrich. Please, I can hope.

    • The Beaglez applaud your song! I’m hopeful we will all soon be singing it!

The newspapers here in Richmond are actually talking about CHANGING the laws. To me, since Romney and Paul managed to get their stuff together – its unfair for them to change it now — if they want to change before the next election that’s fine. But if the Gingrich gets his way – I will be appalled!

  2. Let’s not forget that Newt has been on a (first and foremost) book tour.
