The United States of Iowa

I am soooo over Iowa.  I have never understood how the power to be “first” has translated into such media attention and campaign over-spending.   Iowa is a small state that represents one small mind view in the whole tapestry that makes up this country.  If Michele Bachmann spends as much time and money in every state as she has Iowa, the world will go through some sort of financial/political implosion!  Are these candidates not aware there are 49 other states?  Do they not see that a group that picked theocrat Huckabee last time might not reflect the sensibilities of the whole US?

Let’s finish with Iowa – so we can go on with the rest of the campaign!

  1. Thanks for pointing out the absurdity of all this! How does this travesty continue to go on? It’s so damn meaningless. Iowa’s fifteen minutes of fame stretched out far, far too long for the rest of us.

    • I agree. I don’t get how a state that is hardly representative of the rest of the country got so much power or promotion in this. It’s all such nonsense! Although – I have to say — I’m glad no candidate spends that much time or money in Central Virginia. I like my peace and quiet!

  2. The GOP has treated Iowa like Mecca. Although, it would have been interesting (in the beginning) to see some of those negative campaign ads playing there.
